About Us

A Unique Nationwide Network Linking Women's Bar Associations: The NCWBA is an organization of women's bar associations, for women's bar associations, representing approximately 35,000 women lawyers. It provides a national forum for exchanging ideas and information vital to organizational growth and success in today's profession.

NCWBA Goals:

  • To promote and assist the growth of local and statewide women's bar associations and women's bar sections of local and statewide bar associations;
  • To serve as a vehicle for the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas among women's bar associations and women's bar sections of local and statewide bar associations;
  • To promote and protect the interest of women attorneys in achieving full participation in all the rights, privileges, and benefits of the legal profession; and
  • To promote the advancement of women in society and in the administration of justice.

Making Our Voices Heard Where It Counts: The NCWBA maintains a presence for women's bar associations in the American Bar Association. The NCWBA is an affiliate of the ABA, with a vote in the ABA House of Delegates.

Representation in the ABA House of Delegates adds our collective voice to the debate and vote on many key ABA resolutions. Additionally, the NCWBA holds two of its meetings at the ABA Annual and Midyear Meetings, and works closely with a number of ABA groups and affiliates, including the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession.

ABA sections and commisions frequently ask the NCWBA to co-sponsor programs, provide speakers for panels or recommend individuals to join committees and task forces. These opportunities foster women's leadership in the ABA and in the profession as a whole.
